DAY 6 – Flagstaff Layover
12 Monday Nov 2018
12 Monday Nov 2018
11 Sunday Nov 2018
We started late today as there were 40 – 70 km gusting winds and it was recommended by the trucker parked next to us to NOT take Boundor out across #93 the quickest route via the desert to Phoenix.
The “Auto Park” Light was now a recognized possible “serious” malfunction we decided to avoid the desert altogether and stick to the Interstate 40 to Phoenix via Flagstaff
We left at 13:35 and decided to contact Ron , our mechanic, back home. He said to get it in to be checked ASAP and to stop along the way , crawl under and ensure the transmission was not overheating.
We arrived in Flagstaff at dusk and stayed at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant/Store. Great food and the best knick knack store ever.
Obviously, farmhouse decor and gifts!!! Could have bought the store …… but alas , tomorrow we face the Boundor repair so better restrain.
10 Saturday Nov 2018
We left Ely, Nevada at 9:14 am after stopping for gas at Love’s Travel Center
Again , another beautiful clear sunny day with straight well maintained roads ahead.
09 Friday Nov 2018
We departed Ontario, Oregon at 8:23am MST
Beautiful clear sunny day for travelling. Roads excellent. Idaho has very well maintained Rest Areas and services.
Roads were straight as far as the eye could see and barely a cloud in the sky. Our navigation station set up minus our irreplaceable Garmin GPS.
Arrived in Ely, Nevada just as dusk turned into night and parked at the spots provided by the Hotel Nevada in Ely.
Long day driving and decided to go for dinner in the Hotel to discover it was a Denny’s so change of plan and went where the locals were heading…….. Happy Garden Chinese Food.
Ely is at 6437 Ft. , very crisp and cool. -11 overnight.
08 Thursday Nov 2018
We departed from Moses Lake at 7:40 am. The early morning was brisk at -6 but very comfortable in the “Boundor”
The “Auto Park” warning light illuminated on the dash yesterday intermittently so decided to stop in Moses Lake and get it looked at. No evidence of low fluid , leaks, etc. so we carried on.
Roads were newly repaved and it was a beautiful drive through southern Washington down into Kennewick and across the border into Ontario, Oregon where we stopped for our second night.
We arrived just after 4pm MST.
07 Wednesday Nov 2018
Our trip south to Isla de Piedra, Sinaloa, Mexico began on Wednesday, November 7, 2018
The sun came out and shone the entire trip south today. We were excited to be back on the road with the anticipation of Mexico ahead. Left home at 10:15 am and crossed the border into the US at the Osoyoos crossing. We stopped in Omak for groceries and proceeded on down to Moses Lake, Washington.
